DatingDirect.com is part of the France based Meetic network which has sites in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Spain, Italy, Luxemburg, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, France, Sweden, Switzerland, Asia, and Latin America. Due to the size of the network and their experience within the industry they are able to offer a large and popular general dating website for the UK. In early 2009 they launched the DatingDirect Affinity program which is a new approach to matching profiles. In July 2008 the DatingDirect.com recorded the most individual visitors to a dating website in the UK and the Meetic group’s websites contain a total of 28 million profiles in Europe of which 5 million are based in the UK. This is a slick and professional dating website which takes its role and responsibilities very seriously. If you’re in the market for cyber romance then DatingDirect.com should be on your list of websites to try.

Date.co.uk is owned by Spark Networks Ltd, an American company with over ten years of experience in the dating industry in the USA. Date.co.uk is their offering to the UK dating market and they have drawn on their past successes to offer a feature packed site in which you’ll find a tongue in cheek astrology guide. It’s a bit of fun and helps to break the ice when wondering what your opening line should be when contacting other members. The star sign guide is just one of numerous articles in their directory and they appear to add more each month. The FAQ page is not extensive but there are plenty of articles about online dating safety, dating tips and relationship advice. The language is (understandably) American in parts and the tone is not too serious, but there are some fundamental guidelines in there which should be borne in mind while using any online dating website. Many of the larger towns and cities in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland are represented.

Date the UK is another of Easy Date’s range of websites. It boasts a huge membership and offers profile matching by post code. It’s free to join and to build a photo profile after which you can start searching the database for suitable matches. There’s a table on the site which compares the features on offer with those of Dating Direct and Match.com. Interestingly it shows that the site contains two features not available on Dating Direct and five features not available on Match.com. At the time of writing this review, a monthly subscription to Date the UK is cheaper than Dating Direct and only a little more that the Match.com price. Those features include; seeing who’s been viewing your profile, creating a list of your favourite profiles, text and video chat, comment posting on profiles, video recording, profile blocking, and SMS messaging. So it has all the essential features to make it an entertaining and enjoyable dating website. Definitely worth a try.
